For example, the firm incorporated and
serves as pro bono
General Counsel to Surtec Adopt-A-Family,
Inc., a California non-profit corporation, dedicated to brightening Christmas of
less fortunate families in Hayward, California. Each year, its many volunteers prepare
boxes full of food and gifts for families, ensuring that each child receives a gift
chosen specially for him or her. During 1997's holiday season, over 230 families,
with more than 680 children, benefited from Surtec's efforts.
The firm also serves as pro
bono General Counsel for the Oakland
Lyric Opera Association, a California non-profit corporation, dedicated to bringing
the opera art form to people, primarily Oakland residents, who would otherwise not
have the opportunity to share and enjoy this fine musical experience. It is a proud
sponsor of Fifth Business, which provides funding for abused children's shelters,
and has provided pro
bono services to the Oakland Technical
High School Library Fund and Golden Gate Senior Services, Inc.
